Project One Step Closer to Fruition

SAINT JOHN, NB, FEBRUARY 20, 2017 - The Saint John Field House project Board of Directors is pleased to announce a $25,000 contribution from Moosehead Breweries.

The donation brings the $24 Million project one step closer to fruition.

“Half of the project funding must come from community members and the City,” says Bill MacMackin, Field House Board Chair. “Moosehead’s generous donation brings our total to $10.7 Million, which means our goal is within reach.”

Although work continues to secure the other half of the project funding, which will come from the Province of New Brunswick and the Government Canada, MacMackin is hopeful construction will begin in 2017.

“At Moosehead, we are committed to investing in our hometown, and that means supporting projects like the Field House Project,” says Andrew Oland, CEO. “The field house is an exciting project for Greater Saint John – it will provide year-round recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike, and it will have an enormous positive impact on Saint John’s east side.”

Phase one of the facility will feature two turf pitches for field sports, a running track, a community centre and multi-purpose space for the community to use. It will also include numerous site improvements for the Exhibition Park property.

“We are very proud to add Moosehead Breweries and the Oland family to our donor list,” says Ken Murphy, Campaign Volunteer. “They are one of Saint John’s most recognizable companies and their contribution will surely inspire others to follow suit. Momentum is growing - with each week, we see more and more indications of the community’s desire to support the development of this field house facility.”
